The Global Model WHO is organized by the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). The conferences will be organized on an annual basis.

The Global Model WHO will provide an authentic student-led simulation of the World Health Assembly (WHA) to high school and university students from all over the world and from different academic disciplines. The outcome of the conference is a resolution on a selected health topic from the WHA agenda, adopted by the participants. It is an entry point for young people worldwide into understanding the work of WHO and the importance of multilateralism in today’s globalized and interdependent world. Students can register individually or as part of a school or university delegation.

Students will learn about:

  • global issues and how decisions are made.
  • how to chair meetings and negotiate resolutions with the aim of reaching consensus on the resolutions they will adopt.
  • leadership, diplomatic and a range of personal skills including but not limited to, negotiating, debating, public speaking, and conducting research on global public health issues.

The Global Model WHO aims to be inclusive and diverse in participation ensuring representation from different disciplines, geographical regions, gender identities and income settings.
