Webinar Series: WHO Academy course on National Cancer Control Planning

26 May – 8 September 2026
Virtual

Background

WHO launched an online self-paced course on National Cancer Control Planning for Programme Managers in December 2025. The course aims to provide key actors involved in national cancer planning with the requisite knowledge, skills and competencies for developing and implementing evidence-based National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs) that are context-specific and aligned within the broader health agenda. Learners are also introduced to strategic global cancer initiatives that can inform and facilitate the implementation of their National Cancer Control Plans (NCCPs).

This monthly webinar series will complement the online self-paced learning and provide a dedicated platform for shared learning across the nine modules and discussion boards allowing the translation of theory into practical real-world knowledge and experience sharing.

Objectives:

  1. facilitate progress through the course modules by providing a platform for interactive learning and active participation;
  2. allow for sharing of experiences, best practices, feedback and insights, while promoting learner engagement across the modules;
  3. address matters arising from online learning, and improve the learning experience; and
  4. build collaboration and implementation networks across regions and countries.

Who should attend?

Individuals involved in cancer control planning at national, sub-national including program managers, advocacy and civil society organizations; professional associations, implementing partners, private sector and persons with lived experience, among other key stakeholders.  This course is particularly relevant for individuals who are contributing to, coordinating, or overseeing the development or review of a National Cancer Control Plan.  At the successful completion of the virtual course, the learner may have an opportunity to attend an in-person workshop.
