Working for a brighter, healthier future

How WHO improves health and promotes well-being for the world’s adolescents, Third edition

Overview

WHO continues to strengthen its work for adolescent health and well-being through a coordinated approach led by the HQ Interdepartmental Technical Working Group on Adolescent Health and Well-being, bringing together expertise from across the Organization to address the evolving needs of adolescents worldwide.

This third edition in the biennial series comes as WHO begins implementation of the Fourteenth General Programme of Work (2025–2028), with a strong emphasis on equity, resilience and multisectoral collaboration. The report highlights progress in strengthening data and measurement, advancing normative guidance, fostering meaningful adolescent engagement, and supporting countries to strengthen adolescent-responsive health systems and improve access to quality services, including in fragile and emergency settings. It also reflects growing efforts to address emerging challenges such as climate change, digital transformation and widening inequities.

Drawing on examples from across WHO headquarters, regional and country offices, the report illustrates how global guidance, partnerships and technical support are being translated into action to improve adolescent health and well-being worldwide.

Target audience: this WHO serial publication is intended for policy-makers, partners, donors, media and other stakeholders working to improve adolescent health and well-being.
