Regional workshop Capacity Building in Technology Transfer on Public-Health Oriented Intellectual Property Management and Licensing Models/Practices to Increase Access to Health Technologies

Overview

The objectives of 19-21 November 2024 Regional workshop in Kerala, was to encourage South–South technological collaboration that has significant potential. It holds the promise of a sharing of technology and innovation that is particularly suited to the needs and circumstances of developing countries. The South–South technological exchange would:
  • Address the technological needs of developing countries
  • Promote knowledge sharing and learning for the building of innovation capabilities, based on the “catch- up” experiences of some countries, particularly the emerging economies 
  • Promote effective means of technological learning, particularly through technological alliances and technology transfer initiatives, and 
  • Pool developing-country resources to address common technological challenges.
The workshop activity was proposed for following strategic objectives and outcomes under the WHO fourteenth General Programme of Work: WHO output delivery teams (O.D.T):
