Protecting lives everywhere

The World Health Organization’s work in health emergencies

Overview

In 2025, the WHO Health Emergencies Programme responded to a growing number of health emergencies driven by conflict, climate shocks and disease outbreaks, amid severe funding constraints. This report shows how WHO delivered life‑saving health services, supported countries to detect and control outbreaks, and helped maintain essential health care in some of the world’s most fragile settings. It highlights key results from emergency preparedness and response work, and demonstrates WHO’s continued role in protecting lives and strengthening global health security.
